Dress Code

Dress CodeK3 – 4th Grades

Shirts:

  • A navy, red, white, or light blue polo style shirt or turtle-neck, long or short sleeved, is allowed. These may be worn un-tucked.
  • DCA logo T-shirt is allowed but must be tucked with a belt starting in 4th grade.
  • Oxford and rounded-collar shirts in the above colors are also allowed but must be tucked.
  • A plain,white turtle neck, mock turtle-neck or long-sleeved shirt may be worn under a polo for warmth but must not hang below the shirt.

Sweaters/Vests/Sweatshirts:

  • 125x125_lesu_UNI&PE_wdgAny sweater or sweater vest, V-neck, cardigan, or crew neck may be worn over an approved shirt in solid navy, white, red or light blue. They may be hooded but may not be tied around the waist or neck.
  • Sweatshirts are also allowed in V-neck or crew-neck, DCA “hoodies” are allowed.
  • Crew-neck sweatshirts may be worn alone.

Pants, Skirts (Skorts), Shorts, Jumpers and Capris:

  • These may be worn in DCA plaid, navy or khaki only.
  •  Cargo pants are allowed.
  • No “skinny” styles are allowed.
  • Shorts and skirts must be longer than 2” above the knee.

Shoes, Socks, Belts:

  • All shoes must have enclosed toes and heels.
  • No shoe skates, crocs, sandals, flip-flops, or light-ups.
  • Boots must be brown or black, free of distracting decorations and must be worn under pants.
  • Socks or tights are required and must be any reasonable, solid color.

Accessories:

  • Hats, bandanas, scarves, sweatbands, or sunglasses may not be worn in the building during the school day.
  • Belts must be any reasonable color (no sashes) and must be free of jewels, sequins, glitter, etc.

Outerwear:

  • Any decent outerwear is acceptable but not allowed in the classroom during the school day.

Hair:

  • Boys’ hair should be neat and not extend past the top of the shirt collar.  Bangs are not allowed to be in the student’s eyes.
  • Hair coloring/dyes should not be distracting. Only “natural” colors will be allowed.  Any extreme colors (blue, pink, green, purple, etc.) will not be allowed.
  • Cultural hairstyles are permitted as long as they are not excessive or distractive

 

Dress Code25th – 8th Grades

  • Any solid color polo shirt, long or short sleeved, is allowed.  Shirts must have no design pattern of any kind and no logo on the front larger than a credit card. These shirts may be worn un-tucked.
  • Oxford shirts, rounded-collar blouses and DCA T-shirts are also allowed but must be worn tucked with a belt.
  • A plain turtle neck, mock turtle-neck or T-shirt may be worn under an approved shirt for warmth but must not hang below the shirt.
  • No thermal shirts may be worn.

  • Any color sweater or sweater vest, V-neck, cardigan, or crew neck may be worn over approved shirt in solid navy, red, white or gray.  They may be hooded but may not be tied around the waist or neck. Sweaters may have zippers or buttons.
  • Sweatshirts are also allowed in V-neck or crew-neck, however, DCA “hoodies” are allowed.
  • Crew-neck sweatshirts may be worn alone.
  • Any shirt worn underneath a sweater/vest or sweatshirt must not hang below the bottom of the shirt.

Pants, Skirts, Shorts and Capris:

  • These must be in the approved DCA plaid, navy or khaki color only.
  • Cargo pants and shorts are acceptable.
  • Shorts and skirts must be no shorter than 2” above the knee.
  • No “skinny” styles are allowed.

Outerwear:

  • There are no restrictions on outerwear other than it must be decent.
  • Students may wear black, white, and navy solid color fleece hoodless jackets in the building.

  • Accessories such as hair bows, fingernail polish, or pierced jewelry should match the uniform and be reasonable in size so as not to be distractive.  No more than 2 pairs of earrings may be worn at one time for females.
  • No visible pierced jewelry is allowed for boys.  Facial or tongue jewelry is not permitted for either gender.
  • No visible tattoos are permitted. The must be covered with clothing, not bandages.
  • Hats, bandanas, scarves, sweatbands or sunglasses are not allowed to be worn in the building during the school day.
